How do I earn a pilot certificate?
Every certificate has specific requirements, but generally you will need to:
- Obtain a Student Pilot and Medical Certificate from an Aviation Medical Examiner
- Receive flight and ground instruction from flight instructor on required areas of training
- Study pilot manuals, guides and Federal Aviation Regulations
- Perform solo flights on required areas of training
- Successfully pass a knowledge exam on required subject areas
- Receive a recommendation from a flight instructor, and successfully complete a practical exam, which consists of an oral exam and flight test with an FAA inspector or designated examiner.

First Flight Experience $79.00
We offer an introductory flight package experience to get you off the ground!
Our package includes:
- Half hour of instruction from an FAA certificated Flight Instructor on the ground, explaining how airplanes fly!
- Half an hour in a Diamond Eclipse with an instructor, which includes a short flight around Placerville with you at the controls!
- A logbook with your first flight training entry!
- Student Pilot Guide to help you prepare for training for your first certificate.
- A photograph to commemorate the experience!

Private Pilot Flight Training Package $7500.00
Ready to commit? We offer a comprehensive flight training package to help you achieve the FAA Private Pilot Certificate. Our package includes just about everything you'll need, including:
- 50 hours in a Diamond Eclipse (wet rate - includes fuel)
- 35 hours of dual flight instruction
- 20 hours of pre & post flight briefing, including oral prep for the practical exam
- Study materials including private pilot training flight manual, study and maneuver guides, logbook, and other flight training tools.
See "Other things you'll need along the way" below for additional items you'll acquire along your journey of becoming a private pilot.
If you prefer to learn in different type of aircraft, we also offer the package in a Cessna 172S for an additional $900, and a Cessna 172M for an additional $150.
Notes: Fuel surcharges may apply if the price of fuel rises above the price at the time the package is purchased. Program payments are made in thirds, with $2500 due at program start, at 12 flight hours and 30 flight hours). 5% discount off instruction and rental rates if additional time is needed to achieve certificate.

Instrument Rating Flight Training Package

Ready to take your skills to the next level? Earn the instrument rating to improve your piloting skills, and add utility with the ability to pilot an airplane in the clouds.
Our instrument rating flight training package includes:
- 45 hours in a Diamond Eclipse (wet rate - includes fuel)
- 45 hours of dual flight instruction
- 12 hours of pre and post flight briefings, including oral prep for the practical exam
- Study materials
If you prefer, we also offer the instrument rating package in a Cessna 172S for an additional $750.

Hourly instruction
If you're looking for additional instruction once you've received your certificate, need a BFR, or want to pay as you go towards training for your certificate, we offer hourly instruction and aircraft rental rates.
- Flight Instruction $50/hr
- Advanced Instruction in pilots own aircraft $55/hr
- Aircraft Rental:
- Diamond Eclipse (2002 & 2004 model years) $96/hr
- Cessna 172S (IFR capable, 2001 model year) $115/hr
- Cessna 172M (IFR capable, 1976 model year) $99/hr
All aircraft rental rates are wet - includes fuel.
